Allele: a version of a gene that occurs in the same place on a chromosome (locus). The analysis assumes all cells are diploid, meaning two alleles are present at a given locus in a given cell. Genome editing may result in a modification in one (monoallic) or both (biallelic) alleles.
Variant:
Edit: a change to the genome caused by a genome editor. In the Knockout Report, edits always refer to indels.
Indel: A type of edit characterized by the insertion or deletion of nucleotides.

On-target: A location in the genome that is purposefully targeted for genome editing.
Off-target: A location in the genome that is an unintended target for genome editing.
A summary of editing across all targets
Group: the on-target edit and any associated predicted off-target edits (e.g., for CRISPR, a group may include both on- and off-targets edited by the same guide RNA). The Group names are designated in the "Group" column in the target group file (target_groups.csv).
Category: a designation of whether the target of interest is on-target or off-target. Each target is specified as on- or off-target in the Category column of the target group file (target_groups.csv).

Target: the on-target name specified in the Target column of the target_groups.csv file.
Variant: indicates the genotype of the allele. It may be wildtype (WT) or modified. A variant is in the format of chromosome:position:reference bases/alternative bases.
Example:
chr2:241852772:G/GGGTACCCC indicates that at position 241852772 in chromosome 2, there was an 8bp insertion, changing G to GGGTACCCC.
Modification: In the Knockout Report, the modification describes the variant as:

The percentage and number of alleles carrying each unique length of variant.The denominator or the percentage is the total number of edited alleles. Variant length was calculated by subtracting the alternative bases from the reference bases. Negative values represent deletions and positive values represent insertions. Alleles representing different variants or different lengths of variants were counted separately. The most frequent combinations of co-occurring on-target(s) and/or off-target(s) within each Group.The percentage values were calculated by: (the number of cells in each combination / total number of cells with on and above minimum read depth in the on-target(s) and/or off-target(s)) *100. Each bar represents a unique combination of edits. The plot shows a maximum of 5 combinations.
The number and percentage of cells containing the top edits sites for each Group (up to 5). A Group encompasses the on-target edit and any associated predicted off-target edits. The Group names are designated in the “Group” column the target group file (target_groups.csv).
The percentage of cells with the most frequent combinations of multiple on-target edits. It is relevant in contexts where multiple on-targets were specified in the target_groups.csv file.
